Savor Fine Dining and Wine at the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, California/Nevada — With 30 chefs and over 30 wineries participating in the upcoming 28th Annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival at the Village at Northstar, foodies, wine, craft brew and spirits fans are sure to feel like they’ve reached nirvana.


The Autumn Food & Wine week kicks off Saturday August 31st in Tahoe City with a Farm to Table dinner at the Gate Keepers Cabin, followed by a week of new, inspired food and wine celebrations and events leading up to the final three days of the festival itself at Northstar.


“The festival focuses and highlights the amazing diversity of dining options and culinary talent in our region,” said Judy Laverty, special event programs manager for the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association. “It’s a great way to discover new restaurants, breweries, lakefront to ski resort dining.  There’s some pretty cool stuff going on up here.”


Highlights of Festival Week include a grape stomp at Cobblestone Mall in Tahoe City, and an outdoor Farm to Tahoe dinner at Big Springs Lodge at Northstar on Friday, September 6th.  Saturday the festival gets into full swing with a day filled with cooking demos with Celebrity Chefs Nathan Lyon and Jason Gronlund, Blazing Pans Mountain Chef Cook-Off ©, beer and cheese pairing seminar, mixology and martini classes, Pride Mountain Vineyards winemaker luncheon at Petra, hands-on cheesemaking, a gourmet marketplace, a wine and brew walk; and ending with the Charbay Artisan Distillery Annual Release Party and Joe Craven concert at Tavern 6220’ in the Village at Northstar.


Three new, unique events have been added this year focusing on “living the life” at Tahoe:  Pedal & Pinot Tasting Room Tour, Bike to the Beach Bash & BBQ, and Trailside Hike and Tastings.


“This year, we’re focusing on some of the attributes that Tahoe is really famous for and our outdoor active lifestyle is certainly at the top,” Laverty said.


The Grand Finale of the Festival culminates with the not-to-be-missed Sunday Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting featuring a formally judged competition of 30 of the region’s top chefs in a food and wine pairing competition.


 Ticketholders have the opportunity to taste each of the pairings and then cast their vote in the popular People’s Choice Awards.  Sunday also features the Gourmet Marketplace, live entertainment and a silent auction.
