A fast moving system dropped 1.5 feet of new snow at the ski resorts’ upper elevations in the last 48 hours. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is calling for sunny, clear skies Thursday and Friday, with a chance of snow today and Saturday.
There are many events in North Lake Tahoe both on and off the slopes. Lake Tahoe’s Olympic Heritage Celebration continues through Sunday, January 17, with a bevy of special events planned to commemorate the region’s 50th anniversary of hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics. Enjoy the snow-filled backcountry on a Winter Camping Excursion with the Tahoe Rim Trail Association the weekend of January 16-17. Led by two experienced guides, this one-night trip emphasizes safety and comfort, while teaching you about winter travel methods and hazards. The overnight is open to those 21 years and older and limited to 12 participants. Cost is a donation. Join Northstar-at-Tahoe every Tuesday for Turtleneck Tuesday now through the end of March on the Village ice rink. Tunes will be cranking from 5-8 p.m. with complimentary rink access and rentals available for $5.
