The ARkStorm scenario described by USGS hazards experts could really happen. It would be catastrophic- but it does not have to be. The USGS is working with local communities to use the meteorological data behind the ARkStorm scenario to test emergency readiness and expose vulnerabilities. Modeling this event allows officials to be prepared when disaster strikes.
