Tell Us Your Story

Here are a few tips on how
to bring that story to life.

Step One:
Be still. Find a moment to pause, contemplate and recall that special moment. Write loose notes.

Step Two:
Be specific. Your writing should reflect your speaking style. Imagine yourself at the dinner table or around a campfire and hear yourself sharing your story.

Step Three:
Get going. Write. This isn’t an assignment or a novel. Above all, it should be fun. Work on that opening line most of all and you’ll see how it helps the rest of the story unfold.

We’re not looking for the next Mark Twain or J.K. Rowling. We’re intrigued by those non-fiction, wonderfully real moments that inspire and entertain. In other words, that Tahoe story within you.

Be Specific: Include the names of restaurants, resorts, trailheads, coves, parks, whatever. The more details, the better, such as that sunset that could have been either “real pretty” or “like a campfire in the sky.”

Be brief: Get in, focus on the most memorable part of that amazing moment, and elaborate. Your story is the appetizer for those who have yet to taste Tahoe or who are interested in a return trip.
