Cross Country Skiing

Welcome to the largest concentration of cross county skiing in North America!

There is something about being outside after a snow storm in North Lake Tahoe – something about the sun catching on curtains of flakes that drift off snow-laden branches, something about the soft slither of Nordic skis packing down powder – that is more than magical. It’s inspiring. It’s breathtaking. It’s pure fun.
The annual Great Ski Race is the biggest Nordic race west of the Mississippi and the main fund raising event for the
Tahoe Nordic Search & Rescue Team, a non-profit all-volunteer organization. Over 800 racers and casual skiers make the 18-mile trek beginning at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski Area and ending in Truckee with dinner and a band. Visit for details.
