New Emerald Bay Shuttle
A new shuttle pilot program will launch this summer to improve access to Emerald Bay, running daily from July 15 through October 15, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shuttle will operate from Sugar Pine Point State Park (paid parking available) to the Vikingsholm parking lot, offering a more flexible and stress-free way to visit. At $10 per adult rider, the shuttle will provide a sustainable replacement to roadside parking. Visitors can connect to the shuttle via TART’s fixed-route or on-demand TART Connect service. About
Emerald Bay’s spectacular beaches are accessed via the Rubicon Hiking Trail or by boat. Parking for the trail is located at Eagle Point Campground to the south, DL Bliss State Park to the north, and the Vikingsholm Parking Lot on the west end of Emerald Bay. The trail down to the beach is steep and not recommended for visitors with health or mobility issues. Two beaches are located down on the waters edge. One is directly in front of the historic Vikingsholm castle, and the other is 1 mile north at the boat-in only campground.
