TAHOE RIM TRAIL ROUTE: Discover this 11.8-mile out-and-back trail near Glenbrook, Nevada. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 45 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking and running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in some areas. This is a stunning section of the Tahoe Rim Trail that leads to Snow Valley Peak. It’s important to bring plenty of water as the final few miles can be quite hot and there is no water source available. The trail takes you all the way up to the summit, offering breathtaking views. The spring season is a particularly delightful time to hike this trail, as you get to witness the blooming of flowers and encounter a diverse range of birds and wildlife.
Directions to the trailhead: The Spooner Summit hike, part of the Tahoe Rim Trail, has two main trailhead options: one on the south side of Hwy. 50 near the USFS Picnic Area and another on the north side of Hwy. 50. The south trailhead is located just west of the summit, while the north trailhead is also on the west side of the summit.
