Why Choose Lake Tahoe for Your Wedding?

When you consider everything Lake Tahoe has to offer, it’s no surprise why dozens of happy couples choose to say their vows here each year. To start, you’ll have plenty of options for a stunning backdrop — a sparkling blue lake, breathtaking mountain peaks or lush forest clearings. Beyond that, Lake Tahoe is one of the most versatile wedding destinations you’re likely to find, offering incredible experiences all year round. A summer wedding right on the beach? Easy. A winter wonderland ceremony with snow dusting the ground? We’ve got that, too. Spring and fall bring their own unique wonders — so no matter what date you’re saving for your special day, you can be sure it will be a beautiful one here in Lake Tahoe.

Lake Tahoe Wedding Venues

You’ll also be able to choose from a variety of unique venue options, such as luxury resorts, rustic lodges, chapels and more, to ensure that your wedding day looks exactly how you want it to, down to the last detail.

Olympic Valley Stables

A historic stable site nestled in the heart of Olympic Valley, this breathtaking venue is perfect for a rustic, outdoor ceremony. You’ll hardly need to decorate — your surroundings here are that naturally beautiful. In addition to incredible views, Olympic Valley Stables offers a wide variety of thoughtful amenities, such as barn spaces with built-in DJs or bride and groom lounges, to take your celebration to the next level.

North Tahoe Beach

For a more DIY approach, North Tahoe Beach is a great spot for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony. This one is perfect for more intimate gatherings, so you can invite your closest friends and family to watch you tie the knot right at the edge of Lake Tahoe’s crystal blue waters.

The Chateau at Incline Village

Classic Lake Tahoe charm meets modern elegance at The Chateau at Incline Village. With stunning views of the lake and mountains, soaring timber ceilings, expansive stone fireplaces and spacious covered decks, it promises to leave a memorable impression on you and your guests.

For the Saying “I Do” Part: Officiants & Clergy in Lake Tahoe

The ceremony itself is one of the most important parts of a wedding, so you want to make sure you have the right person guiding it. Consider hiring a Lake Tahoe professional to officiate. The region’s many services offer a host of experienced officiants from many religious and secular backgrounds who can deliver the beautiful ceremony you deserve — you know, the one that will have everyone reaching for a tissue.

Ceremonies by Meredith

For a truly personalized, intimate ceremony experience, Meredith Richmond has you covered. She will make a true effort to get to know you and your fiancé to ensure your ceremony isn’t simply boilerplate, but is a beautiful celebration of the life you are about to embark on.

First Baptist Church of Tahoe City

Head pastor, Pastor Scott Capshaw, is happy to travel to nearby Lake Tahoe venues to officiate your ceremony. His unique experience includes resort ministry with his wife Jenn in Girdwood, Alaska, and seven years as a chaplain for the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Mountain High Weddings

Headed up by longtime Lake Tahoe local Christa Deane, Mountain High Weddings is an excellent choice for any couple tying the knot here in the area. In addition to decades of experience, Mountain High Weddings boasts a number of accolades, even winning WeddingWire’s “Couples’ Choice Awards” five years in a row.

Legal Requirements & Marriage Licenses

In the whirlwind of planning a celebration, the legal aspects of getting married might not be at the top of your list of considerations. However, it’s important to have a general idea of what you will need to do to prepare to be legally married. In the cases of both California and Nevada, you can obtain a marriage license in any county and be subsequently married anywhere in the state — so we recommend visiting your local county clerk’s office to obtain your license. You’ll need one witness, as well as both of your photo IDs, when you visit the county clerk’s office. If you are planning your ceremony outdoors or on publicly owned land, be sure to check permit requirements for the specific location you are hoping for.

Wedding Florists in Lake Tahoe

What’s a wedding without some gorgeous florals? In Lake Tahoe, natural beauty abounds — and for many florists, it provides inspiration to create some truly incredible pieces. Whether you’re hoping for elegant and understated, eclectic and colorful, natural and earthy or anything in between, you can be sure that a Lake Tahoe florist will provide the right decor to make your wedding truly breathtaking. Besides flowers, many local florists offer supplementary event decorating, so you can elevate your celebration with balloon arches, greenery displays and more.

When Is the Best Time to Get Married in Lake Tahoe?

The short answer to this question is, of course, any time! Depending on what your dream wedding looks like, Lake Tahoe has something unique to offer no matter the season.

For some, spring might be the best — blooming landscapes and fewer crowds make spring an ideal time to get married, and the mild temperatures and fresh greenery create a beautiful backdrop for your ceremony. And since there will likely still be snow on the ground, spring offers some incredible photo opportunities.

If you’re dreaming of a warm-weather celebration with lakeside vibes, summer is the perfect time. Expect ideal conditions for an outdoor ceremony, with plenty of sunshine and daylight lasting long into the evening.

Around here, we call fall Lake Tahoe’s best-kept secret. With stunning fall foliage and mild weather, fall is a wonderful season for a wedding. Plus, it’s often the off-season for many venues, so you might enjoy some savings during this time.

For those seeking a cozy, snowy wedding, winter in Lake Tahoe is magical. Picture-perfect mountain settings, romantic lodges and snow-covered landscapes create the ultimate winter wonderland.
