Spending New Year’s Eve in North Lake Tahoe is just as awesome as it sounds. From live music to slopeside fireworks, champagne toasts, snowshoeing and festive dinners, we’ve put together a list of the must-dos to ring in 2017. 1. Get your Firework Thrills
What would a New Year’s Eve celebration be without fireworks? Enjoy three shows across the North Shore: Mt. Rose Ski Resort at 5:50 p.m., The Village at Squaw Valley starting at 7 p.m., or Northstar California Resort beginning at 9 p.m.
2. Snow Play
Daytime events will be taking place at nearly every resort on Dec. 31, inviting skiers and riders to carve their way through the mountain one last time before the arrival of 2018. Check out Homewood Mountain Resort and celebrate with a champagne toast, live music and s’mores.
Tahoe Donner offers a New Year’s Eve Sunset Snowshoe Tour, followed by libations. Reserve your space 24 hours in advance by calling 530-587-9484.
3. Celebrate in Style
For the 21+ folks looking to get fancy, Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows will ring in the New Year with their 13th annual Squaw Valley Prom.
The Crystal Bay Club Casino is one of our favorite music venues on the North Shore, between the Crown Room and Red Room, a wide range of artists have performed at this lively casino hotspot. Their “NYE In Tahoe” celebration includes headliner, Leftover Salmon with special guests The Mother Hips and an after party is with Dusty Green Bones. Music starts at 9 p.m., tickets are $50 (plus fees).
New Year’s is a time for everyone to enjoy. The Resort at Squaw Creek will be hosting separate celebrations for kids and teens with food, movies and music.
4. Get your Yum On!
Dinner, dessert and drinks are a given on the last night of the year… enjoy a feast before committing to a wellness routine in the New Year. Granlibakken Tahoe and Resort at Squaw Creek invites guests to dine and give a champagne toasts. We highly recommended dining reservations at any North Shore location.
5. Stay Safe for Another Happy, Healthy Year
For worry-free transportation on this indulgent night, take one of the free shuttles provided by Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART). Shuttle service will be available to both North Tahoe and Truckee through 2 a.m. Plan your route!
